Officers responded at approximately 10:09 p.m. on Sept. 7 to the 400 block of Bluemont Avenue where a Chevrolet Camaro driven by Kirsten Wallace-Newsome, 25, collided with a Honda Accord driven by Sohil Mamon, 19. According to the police report, Sohil Mamon was transported to Via Christi Hospital for treatment of alleged injuries sustained in the crash. Kirsten Wallace-Newsome received a citation for an unsafe lane change or merging violation. The department stated that some names, addresses, and case details are withheld from public reports to protect community members and comply with local, state, and federal laws. "Some subjects listed as confined are no longer confined at the time of this report," the statement said. "Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law." Reports summarized were collected during a 24-hour period from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., with weekend data covering Friday morning through Monday morning. The police encourage anyone with information about crimes to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously for possible cash rewards up to $1,000.
