India wins seven medals on third day of para archery competition

Ahmedabad: Sheetal Devi confirmed a medal for India by storming into the para women's compound individual final on the third day of the World Archery Para Series (Stage III) here on Monday. In an all-Indian semifinal, the armless archer from Jammu defeated Sarita 145-143 to book her place in the gold clash, where she will face Aizada Seidan of Kazakhstan. India were also assured of a string of medals across recurve, compound and W1 events. In the visually impaired 1 category, Tanvi Ingale settled for a silver after losing 4-6 to Cyprus' Christos Misos in the final match. Meanwhile, on Monday, India won seven medals on the third day of the event at the Sabarmati Riverfront . In the para compound individual events, Sarita, who lost to Sheetal in the semis, will compete for bronze in the women's category, while Toman Kumar will compete for bronze in the men's category. In the para recurve women's individual event, Bhawna and Rajshri Dhanraj Rathod will face each other in the bronze medal match, guaranteeing another medal for India. Swati Chaudhary will also compete for bronze in the W1 women's individual event. The hosts also secured podium finishes across all three para recurve team events. Harvinder Singh and Vijay Sundi advanced to the final of the para recurve men's team event, while Bhawna and Pooja reached the final of the para recurve women's team event. Harvinder Singh and Bhawna also secured their place in the final of the para recurve mixed team event. In para compound men's team, Toman Kumar and Shyam Sunder Swami advanced to the final, assuring another medal for India. Sheetal Devi and Payal Nag will compete for bronze in the para compound women's team event. The W1 mixed team pair of Adil Ansari and Swati Chaudhary also advanced to the final, securing another medal for India.
