Brad Pitt's daughter Vivienne publishes legal notice to change her name

The 18-year-old has published a notice of her petition in the Los Angeles Daily Journal for four consecutive weeks, according to court documents obtained by Page Six. The notice ran from July 24 through August 14 and gives anyone who opposes the requested name change an opportunity to submit a written objection before the final hearing. Vivienne is seeking to change her legal name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. Her next court hearing is scheduled for November 2, when a judge can approve the petition if there are no objections. The newspaper notice is one of California's requirements for completing a legal name change. Vivienne originally filed the petition in July, listing the reason for the request as 'personal.' The name change would formalise a choice Vivienne has previously made professionally. In 2024, while working with her mother on the Broadway production of The Outsiders, she was credited as Vivienne Jolie in the show's Playbill. Vivienne is also following several of her siblings in seeking to remove 'Pitt' from their surnames. Her sister Zahara and brother Maddox have reportedly completed similar newspaper publication requirements, while Shiloh became the first of the siblings to officially drop the surname in June 2024. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne. The former couple separated in 2016 and were declared legally single in 2019 before finalising their divorce settlement in December 2024. The legal name changes come amid years of reported family tensions following the couple's separation. Pitt has also recently spoken publicly about the emotional difficulties he experienced while dealing with family issues.
