Monthly inflows remain below six-month average of $290 million but above $193 million long-term average; total RDA accounts rise to 966,144
Pakistan received $259 million in inflows through Roshan Digital Accounts (RDA) in August 2026, taking cumulative inflows under the scheme to $13.906 billion by the end of the month, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
Monthly inflows increased the cumulative total by 2% from $13.647 billion in July 2026.
According to Topline Securities, the $259 million received during August was below the six-month average of $290 million but remained higher than the long-term monthly average of $193 million since the RDA's inception in September 2020.
Of the total cumulative inflows, $2.130 billion has so far been repatriated, while $8.767 billion has been utilised locally.
Consequently, the total net repatriable liability stood at $3 billion at the end of August.
Of the outstanding liability, $2.048 billion was invested in Naya Pakistan Certificates (NPCs), comprising $716 million in conventional NPCs and $1.332 billion in Islamic NPC instruments.
Roshan Equity Investments stood at $155 million, while another $729 million remained as balances in RDA accounts.
The number of RDA accounts also continued to increase, reaching 966,144 in August from 956,790 in July, representing a month-on-month increase of 9,345 accounts.
The SBP launched the RDA initiative in September 2020 to enable non-resident Pakistanis to digitally open and operate bank accounts in Pakistan without visiting a bank branch.
The accounts are available in currencies including Pakistani rupees, US dollars, British pounds and euros, and can be used for banking, payment and investment activities through participating commercial banks.
Resident Pakistanis who have declared assets abroad with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) can also open Foreign Currency Roshan Digital Accounts. Among other facilities, these accounts allow investment in Naya Pakistan Certificates denominated in US dollars, British pounds and euros.
