Adu-Boahene Trial: AG closes case; High Court orders accused persons' lawyer to file submission of no case

Kwabena Adu-Boahene, embattled former National Signals Bureau Director-General Prosecution has closed its case in the trial of former National Signals Bureau Director-General, Kwabena Adu-Boahene and his wife over their alleged dissipation of GH¢49.1 million. This means that the State is done leading evidence to substantiate the charges it preferred against the accused persons. Defence counsel Samuel Atta Akyea says the accused persons will file a submission of no case to answer after challenging the prosecution's evidence and the investigator's failure to independently verify key claims. The court has directed the defence to file its submission by September 25 with the State given 14 days to respond. The case has been adjourned to November 5, 2026, for ruling. Kwabena Adu Boahene and his wife are standing trial on charges including stealing, conspiracy to steal, defrauding by false pretences, wilfully causing financial loss to the State, using public office for profit, collaboration to use public office for profit, obtaining public property by false statements, money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering.
