Lower humidity with limited shower chances for Tuesday

Panama City, Fla. (WMBB) – After an unseasonably warm Labor Day Monday, a frontal boundary has brought drier air aloft, dropping dewpoints to a more comfortable level. The drier air is also lowering our shower and storm chances with only isolated chances along the afternoon sea-breeze, which will be pinned to the coast this afternoon thanks for our wind pattern now out of the ENE. A slight pressure gradient will bring breezy conditions at times throughout Tuesday with wind gusts upwards of 20 mph. A surface ridge of high pressure is keeping our air temperatures above average for the remainder of the workweek with a pattern shift by the second half of the workweek increasing shower and storm chances by Thursday through the weekend. Yellow over purple flags are expected for the remainder of this week with a moderate rip current risk along with slight chop for the boaters going offshore. TROPICS: Dry air and wind shear continue to control the Atlantic Basin with no tropical development expected within the next seven days, potentially breaking an all-time record if we go without a hurricane by peak season, which is on September 10th.
