Andhra Pradesh: Inter Board Begins Competency-Based Assessment Workshop

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh Board of Intermediate Education, in association with PARAKH-NCERT, began a four-day workshop at Andhra Loyola College here on Tuesday to introduce competency-based assessment methods. The workshop, being held from September 8 to 11, focuses on preparing the Holistic Progress Card for the Secondary Stage, PARAKH Taxonomy and the Item Bank and Test Management System (ITMS) for developing competency-based assessments and question banks. Addressing the gathering, BIE controller of examinations Simon Victor said examination reforms were being introduced in line with the National Education Policy. The changes would move away from rote memorisation and help assess students' creativity, skills and ability to resolve problems. NCERT delegates from Delhi, including Aman Deep and Dr Uday, trained lecturers in PARAKH Taxonomy and text-based assessment methods. As many as 100 select lecturers from across the state are participating in the workshop, aimed at bringing AP's BIE on par with national-level intermediate education boards.
