ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Torrential rain accompanied by thunder and lightning lashed Islamabad and several other parts of the country, inundating low-lying areas and causing intermittent power outages in various sectors. Strong winds during the downpour caused the concert stage at the Sports Complex in Islamabad to collapse. Falling trees in Sector F-10 damaged vehicles and disrupted traffic flow. Haripur also received rain accompanied by strong winds. Two people were injured after a tree fell in Paniya, while water accumulated on roads in different areas. In Peshawar, the intense heatwave subsided following rainfall, bringing relief to residents. Batkhela experienced torrential rain with thunder and lightning, resulting in surging streams and drains and disrupting the power transmission system. Heavy rainfall was also reported in Swabi, where low-lying areas were inundated, causing difficulties for residents. The Meteorological Department has forecast further rainfall across the country until September 17. Rain is expected in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while hot and humid weather is likely to prevail in Sindh and Balochistan.
