Niaz: Al-Sulaibikhat training camp is progressing well

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 8: Al-Sulaibikhat has stepped up preparations for the 2026- 2027 volleyball season with a training camp in Cairo, Egypt, where the team played its first friendly match as part of its intensive preparations. The camp runs until September 17. Al-Sulaibikhat faced Misr Petroleum in the opening friendly, with Tunisian head coach Niaz Salam using the game to work on the team's technical and tactical organization, as well as its collective performance. The camp is also focused on improving the players' physical and technical fitness while building greater understanding and cohesion within the squad, particularly following the arrival of several new players. Al-Sulaibikhat will play its second friendly against the Egyptian Army next Sunday before taking on Zamalek the following Tuesday in its third warm-up game. Salam praised the players for their commitment to the camp's demanding schedule, which includes two training sessions each day, morning and evening. He said the opening friendly provided valuable lessons for the team and thanked the club's management for arranging the camp, which he believes will benefit the squad during the domestic season. The coaching staff sees the Cairo camp as an important opportunity to assess the team's readiness and evaluate individual performances, particularly those of the new arrivals and foreign professionals. The club is hoping the preparations will lay the foundation for a strong campaign and competitive results in the upcoming season. The delegation is headed by Salem Mutaib and includes Egyptian technical director Ahmed Refaat, Tunisian head coach Niaz Salam, and 20 players. The squad's foreign professionals are Ghanaian Ibrahima and Cuban Yassel. The team also includes recent signings Mubarak Abdulhadi, Nasser Dashti, Abdulrazzaq Al-Loghani, Yousuf Kabed, Abdulrahman Al-Mutawa and Faisal Muhareb, along with Abdullah Gholoum, who has joined on loan from Qadsia.
