Zookeeper dies after horror crocodile attack trapped him in jaws for over an hour

A zookeeper died in a brutal crocadile attack over the weekend, with reports indicating the predator held onto him for more than an hour. The worker was attacked while attempting to feed it a chicken inside an enclosure at Adventure Park in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, on Saturday afternoon. He was rushed to hospital after the crocodile held him in its jaws for an extended period, but he succumbed to his injuries early Sunday morning, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. "He brought the chicken to the fence and the crocodile attacked the person and tried to bring him into the pool," eyewitness Gibson John said. "He was in severe pain but he couldn't scream. He couldn't speak properly at that time. It was the pain I could see from his eyes. The only thing I could hear him say was, 'I haven't done anything wrong.'" According to News.com.au, a sizable crowd had gathered around the park's boundary in the island nation in the Southwestern Pacific. In the video, the handler's legs seemed to be stuck in the croc's jaws as he clung to the pool's edge and onto a pole that a bystander had supplied. Later, when the man moaned in pain, another onlooker was spotted holding onto his arms from the pool's edge. In the midst of the chaos, guests were reportedly escorted out of the park when police shot the reptile before saving the man. Before being transported to 3 Mile General Hospital by St. John Ambulance, John said he learned that the man, who was from the Western Islands in northern Papua New Guinea, had lost a limb. According to ABC, he had been employed at the park for almost two years. On Sunday, park employees gathered inside a funeral home as the site was closed until further notice. Last year, a crocodile in Florida was seen swimming along a canal while holding a big dog in his teeth. "I got a text from a friend that was walking with their baby in a stroller, and 10 feet away is this 11-foot crocodile swimming with a Golden Retriever-type breed in it's mouth. And so at that point I couldn't help but go there," Satellite Beach resident Zach Spurlock told local media at the time.
