Samsung Rolls Out AI Software Updates for Refrigerators and Laundry Appliances

Samsung this month begins rolling out software updates for select refrigerators and laundry appliances, bringing new AI features and refreshed interfaces to existing models. The update introduces Tizen OS 10.0, the latest Bixby voice assistant, and expanded AI capabilities. Refrigerators with built-in cameras and AI Vision, including Family Hub models with 21.5-inch and 32-inch screens released between 2021 and 2025, will get an updated AI Vision built with Google Gemini. This feature can recognize a wider range of foods, including branded and region-specific items, according to Samsung. The update also adds Now Brief and What's for Today? for personalized information. Bixby gains improved voice recognition for more natural interactions, and models with 7-inch Smart Screens get a refreshed interface. An Easy Mode simplifies the screen layout and highlights key information. The software update was first introduced to select Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hubs in the U.S. in May and is now expanding to additional global markets. Samsung says the exact timing, the features supported and the availability can differ by product, by model year and by market. Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of R&D Team of DA Business at Samsung, said: "Home appliances are products that consumers rely on for many years. We believe supporting them over time requires not only reliable hardware, but also software that continues to evolve." The company did not give a model-by-model timetable for the rollout. This announcement follows Samsung's showcase of new washers with a flat design at IFA 2026.
