The Tamil Nadu government has introduced a Bill in the Assembly to amend the Tamil Nadu Payment of Salaries Act so as to provide a vehicle to every MLAs and other allowances. On August 19, Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay announced on the floor of the Assembly that a vehicle will be provided to every legislator to enable them to effectively render public service and discharge their duties in their respective constituencies. Mr. Vijay had also announced that the vehicle allowance payable to every MLA would be enhanced from ₹25,000 to ₹75,000 per month and a personal assistance allowance of ₹25,000 per month would be sanctioned to them. For the implementation of the above announcement, the State government has decided to amend the Tamil Nadu Payment of Salaries Act 1951 and introduced the Bill in the Assembly.
