Pakistan and the Republic of Congo have agreed to strengthen defence and security cooperation, with the two sides signing a memorandum of understanding to expand ties in the field.
A high-level Congolese defence delegation visited General Headquarters (GHQ), where Congo's Chief of Defence Armed Forces, DRC Lieutenant General Banza Mwilambwe, met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. Regional security matters were discussed during the meeting.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Banza Mwilambwe received a guard of honour upon arrival at GHQ. During his meeting with the Field Marshal, both sides agreed to strengthen defence cooperation between Pakistan and the Republic of Congo and signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance defence and security ties.
The two sides expressed satisfaction over the longstanding friendly relations between Pakistan and Congo.
The Congolese defence chief also met Pakistan's naval and air chiefs and praised the professional capabilities of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
The distinguished guest praised the Pakistani armed forces' commitment to peace and stability. He also appreciated Pakistan's progress in defence self-reliance and local production.
