Essex student among Great British Bake Off line-up

The 17th series of the popular Channel 4 show returns later this month, introducing a fresh line-up of amateur bakers competing for the title under the watchful eyes of returning judge Paul Hollywood and new judge Nigella Lawson. The change comes after Dame Prue Leith stepped down following nine series. He began baking at the age of five alongside his mother and now balances his passion for baking with studies in political economy, athletics, and a part-time job. Moyin's creations are often inspired by his Nigerian heritage and feature ingredients such as grains of paradise and groundnuts. Other contestants include 32-year-old artist and drag king Gabe from Grimsby, who lives in the West Midlands with partners Ellis and Tyler and their two sausage dogs. The series will introduce viewers to a diverse group of bakers, including 29-year-old project planner Shannon from Bristol, 25-year-old hairdresser Tom, and 21-year-old law student Mo. Other contestants include 31-year-old accessibility coordinator Molly from London, 67-year-old retired garment technologist Gary from Chesterfield, 24-year-old marketing graduate Clara from Portugal, 63-year-old NHS hospital discharge lead Connie, and 25-year-old administrator Danni from Dorset. The new series of The Great British Bake Off begins on September 22 at 8pm on Channel 4.
