New Mexico Democrat Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has responded to President Trump's suggesting that the state of New Mexico should have a new name.
As WLT Report previously covered, President Trump posted an image of New Mexico with its name crossed out with the new name being 'New America.'

He later uploaded a second image coupled with the caption:
Many people suggested changing the name of New Mexico, one of the great vote cheating states of all time, to NEW AMERICA. So much more prestigious and beautiful for the people of that potentially incredible State. Wow, I Love It!!'
Here's the post:

Now Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has responded to Trump's post and The Hill had the full scoop:
New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) slammed President Trump's recent post where he shared a map showing her state renamed as 'New America.'
'New Mexico's name isn't up for debate — it's been ours since before the United States existed. What is up for debate? Who's showing up for working families,' Lujan Grisham said in a post on the social platform X on Sunday.
'While the President tries to distract Americans from his disastrous war in Iran, gas prices keep soaring. Americans are also spending more at the grocery store, losing access to health care and wondering if they'll ever be able to afford a home,' the governor added.
On Sunday, Trump posted a map of New Mexico labeled 'New America' after a debunked online hoax spread that he had signed an executive order changing the state's name.
The map, which the president posted to Truth Social, featured a large 'X' over 'Mexico' in the state's name and the word 'America' below it. The White House's official account also posted the image on X.

Under Democratic leadership here in New Mexico, we're providing families with free childcare and college, protecting access to health care and investing in housing. While the White House wastes time coloring on maps, Nuevo México is busy doing the work.
