Emergency services were called following concerns for the safety of a man on a balcony on Gurdwara Way in Barking at around 3pm today (September 7). Before police arrived, the man, believed to be in his 20s, fell from height and sustained serious injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "Police were called at 15:03hrs on Monday, 7 September to Gurdwara Way in Barking following concerns for the safety of a man on a balcony. "Prior to police arrival, the man fell from height sustaining serious injuries. "Officers arrived at the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service and the man in his 20s was sadly pronounced at the scene. "His death is being treated as unexpected but not believed to be suspicious. Read more "Enquiries are ongoing to identify his next-of-kin." Gurdwara Way was closed in both directions between Fanshawe Avenue and North Street but has since reopened. The closure has led to traffic congestion in the area and diversions are in place. Bus route 368 was terminating at Barking Station and did not serve Harts Lane Estate in either direction.
