A few standout performances and some impressive victories marked the first week of the boys soccer season. It also produced for us seven candidates for candidates for Boys Soccer Player of the Week, presented by White Plains Hospital. He scored a goal in the Hornets' 3-0 win over Hen Hud and scored twice in a 3-2 win over Yorktown. The goalkeeper made 16 saves and helped the Vikings edge Briarcliff in a 5-3 round of penalty kicks to win the Mount Pleasant Cup. Bricker was named tournament MVP. The senior scored twice, including the winner late, for the Rams in a 3-2 win over North Salem. The midfielder had three goals and an assist in the Panthers' 4-1 win over Croton-Harmon on Sunday in the consolation match of the Ossining River Cup tournament. He scored three goals to lead Keio in a 3-1 win over Croton-Harmon last Thursday. The midfielder scored two goals each in a 3-0 win over Yorktown and a victory over Brewster last week. The senior had two goals and two assists in the first half, leading the Bulldogs in a win over Woodlands to open the season. He also scored in their 2-0 win over Blind Brook last Friday.
