Qatar Reiterates Strong Condemnation of Iran's ‘Unjustified' Attacks on Regional Countries

Geneva, September 08 (QNA) – The State of Qatar has reiterated its strong condemnation of the Iranian attacks on several regional countries as 'unjustified', warning that attempts to drag them into existing conflicts would risk further escalation and undermine diplomatic endeavors to restore stability. Speaking on Tuesday at the general debate with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights at the 63rd Human Rights Council in Geneva, HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah called for an immediate cessation of military actions and attacks. Her Excellency stressed the need to ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, return to diplomacy and dialogue, and adhere to the understandings already reached. On the Palestinian issue, HE Al Muftah condemned the continuation of Israeli settlement activity, particularly the 'E1' plan along with the attacks on Gaza and the rejection of the peace plan aimed at ending the conflict there. She rejected Israeli plans for forced displacement of the Palestinian people from their land, settler violence, attacks targeting UNRWA and the continued attacks on Lebanon. Al Muftah urged for holding those responsible accountable and ensuring a lasting and just peace. On Syria, Her Excellency welcomed the new phase in Syria that allows for building a future that guarantees the rights of Syrians, and the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces into the state's military institutions, appreciating the efforts made to achieve transitional justice and address the issue of missing persons. Her Excellency urged the international community to continue political, economic and humanitarian support, lift all sanctions, and take a firm stance against Israeli attacks on Syrian territory. On Sudan, HE Al Muftah strongly condemned the Rapid Support Forces (RSF)'s violations in and around the city of El Obeid, including attacks on civilian and vital facilities in the city. She called for the perpetrators to be held accountable and for compliance with international humanitarian law to be enforced, stressing the rejection of any external interference in Sudan's internal affairs that would prolong the conflict.
