KMPDU Threatens Seven-Day Ultimatum Over Nurses Strike - September 2026 The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the government to resolve the ongoing nurses' strike, warning that doctors may join the walkout. This comes as over 11,000 pharmaceutical technologists are also threatening to strike over new 2026 Good Pharmacy Practice Standards that they claim will limit their practice. Meanwhile, the Kenyan Ministry of Health has identified seven counties including Nairobi as high-risk for Mpox due to their proximity to transport corridors and borders, with 1,298 cases and 19 deaths recorded nationwide, prompting calls for enhanced hygiene and preventive measures.
