The Blinn College football team suffered a 48-14 loss to fourth-ranked Tyler Junior College in Southwest Junior College Football Conference action Saturday at Cub Stadium in Brenham. The loss dropped the Buccaneers to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play. Tyler, the defending SWJCFC champion and a 2025 national tournament qualifier, took control early with a pair of first-quarter touchdowns. The Apaches continued to build their advantage in the second quarter and carried a 27-0 lead into halftime. Blinn made a quarterback change following the intermission, turning to freshman David Richardson for the remainder of the game. Richardson provided the Buccaneers' two touchdowns, scoring on an 11-yard quarterback keeper in the third quarter before adding a 6-yard touchdown run in the fourth. Blinn was unable to overcome Tyler's early advantage as the Apaches went on to secure the 48-14 conference victory. The Buccaneers will step away from conference play when they host Community Christian College at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Cub Stadium in Brenham. Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and has captured 53 national championships since 1987.
