Pickup driver runs over security guard while reversing in Sector 62, 54-year-old dies

Gurgaon: A 54-year-old security guard was killed after a Bolero pickup driver allegedly hit him while reversing the vehicle at high speed in Sector 62 on Sunday morning. The deceased, Yogendra Bahadur Singh, was a resident of Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh. He was working as a security guard at a private company's land in the area. According to the complaint filed by his colleague Chandan Ram, Singh was posted at a corner of the company's property when the vehicle came from the Ullawas side towards Nangli Umarpur around 9 am. 'The driver suddenly stopped the vehicle and then began reversing. The driver reversed at high speed and in a negligent manner, hitting Singh and knocking him to the road. The driver then continued reversing and ran the vehicle over Singh, leaving him critically injured,' the complaint stated. Ram, who said he witnessed the incident, immediately informed the company's quick response team. 'Singh was initially taken by auto towards Ullawas Chowk, from where the QRT team shifted him to Civil Hospital, Sector 10. Doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival,' a police officer privy to the investigation said. Police said they received information about the accident and reached the spot, but neither the pickup nor its driver was found there. Based on Ram's complaint and the hospital record, police registered an FIR under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (death by negligence) of the BNS at Sector 65 police station.
