Plenty of sunshine on Labor Day as cooler and rainy pattern comes to an end

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – Warmer pattern is expected to begin today as the region dries out from the rainy weekend. Sunday's high in Bend was only 59 after hitting 70 on Saturday. Labor Day is going to be sunny and dry with highs in the middle 60s. This week the highs will be in the 70s Tuesday then top out in the 80s Wednesday and Thursday followed by the 70s on Friday. The main upper level low pressure complex is moving east, away from the Pacific Northwest, but a smaller low is orbiting around the west side of that feature. This will provide us with slightly below normal weather on Tuesday before moving east Wednesday. Bottom line, the warmer pattern will overtake the cooler pattern once high pressure begins to dominate the area. The high moves into the region and will provide us with more of a summer-like pattern for a couple of days. The warm and sunny weather is expected on Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the 80s. We are technically on the northwest edge of the high and a zonal flow will bring in the above normal weather. Thursday will be warm, as mentioned above, but there will be a few more clouds overhead as some light rain and drizzle arrive in northern Oregon. Not much expected to get to the surface, but we should see partly to mostly cloudy skies at times Thursday afternoon. Not enough to keep us from hitting the 80s. The shift from summer back to fall will begin on Friday as highs will be in the low 70s. This occurs as the high drops out of the area and opens the door for another area of low pressure to arrive from the Gulf of Alaska. This will not only bring in much cooler air, but also some light rain. Saturday the highs will be in the middle 60s along with some spotty rain and drizzle. Sunday provides the same cooler air but lacks the moisture to give us any precipitation. This pattern will continue into Monday as highs stay in the upper 60s. Normal high temperature for early September in Bend is around the upper 70s. Overnight lows are normally in the low 40s. Please, Stay safe and smart.
