Islamabad IT Park Reaches 90% Completion as Govt Seeks Private Operator

The Islamabad IT Park on Kuri Road has reached around 90 percent completion, with the government now moving to bring in a private company to manage and operate the facility. The Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), working under the Ministry of IT and Telecommunications, has invited proposals for facility management services at the IT Park. The selected firm will handle key functions including security, maintenance, daily operations, janitorial services, and horticulture. The Islamabad IT Park is one of the Ministry of IT and PSEB's major projects aimed at strengthening Pakistan's technology ecosystem. The facility covers around 720,000 square feet across 14.9 acres and has been developed with support from South Korean consultants. The project will provide dedicated space and facilities for technology companies, startups, entrepreneurs, incubation centres and IT-enabled businesses. The planned facility will have the capacity to accommodate around 100 technology companies and 8,400 technology professionals and resources. The IT Park is expected to provide a dedicated environment where technology businesses can operate, expand and develop new products and services. It is also designed to support startups and entrepreneurs by bringing companies and innovation-focused activities under one facility. The government's decision to seek a private facility management company comes as construction work approaches completion. The private operator will be responsible for maintaining the facility and ensuring the smooth operation of its day-to-day services. The Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA) will continue to play its role in regulating and facilitating technology zones in Pakistan.
