‘My son died on his own': Mother seeking justice for son killed in hit-and-run as Gardaí investigate whether boy was targeted

Bryan Lowe. Photo: Facebook. GARDAÍ probing the death of a 17-year-old boy in a hit-and-run in County Clare were investigating whether he may potentially have been deliberately knocked down. Bryan Lowe, from Westbury, Corbally, and Clonlara, died after a vehicle struck and killed him as he rode an e-bike at Cottage Cross, near Clonlara village, around 11pm last Friday night. The other vehicle and its occupants did not remain at the scene. Last Sunday, Gardaí said they were looking to trace the driver or occupants of a silver/gold coloured Skoda Octavia seen driving in the Castleconnell and Clonlara areas between last 6pm last Friday and 11am last Saturday. Advertisement Signup for the Limerick Post newsletter Gardaí released a photo of the Skoda car, with registration number 05-C-5982, which it's understood was recovered partially burned out in the Castleconnell area last Saturday morning. When asked for comment on the vehicle recovered, a Garda Press Officer declined to comment specifically, and said: 'Any developments or updates in regard to this high profile investigation will be communicated via press release.' Bryan Lowe's mother, Crystal Lowe, said she was 'heartbroken and traumatised' following his tragic death. In a post shared online, Ms Lowe said: 'My son died on his own, I wasn't with him. I wanted to pray over him but I wasn't allowed.' Ms Lowe said she believes her son was deliberately targeted and was 'followed' from the Corbally area to Clonlara prior to his death.
