AUGUSTA, N.J. — The Tri-City ValleyCats closed out the 2026 season on Sunday with a monster night as they held the Sussex County Miners to two hits and Tri-City banged out 12 of their own in a 7-2 win in the series and season finale. Ranko Stevanovic started off the top of the sixth with a double. After a Nick Monile (2-for-4, 2 R) single, Pedro Moreno (2-for-4, 2 R, 3 RBI) hit the ValleyCats' Frontier League-leading thirtieth triple of the season to score both runners. Jon LeGrande followed with a ground-rule double to score Moreno. Dylan Broderick delivered career hit No. 200 as a ValleyCat when he singled in LeGrande. Ian Walters (2-for-5) and Mike Campagna had back-to-back singles to bring Broderick around. The five-run rally proved to be the difference. JanCarlos Colon went 2-for-5 with an RBI on the night for Tri-City. On the mound, veteran Gino Sabatine had a 1-2-3 first in the start before Luis Misla went five innings of one-hit ball. Misla struck out two and walked one. Noah Estrella delivered a hitless seventh. Aidan Kelly allowed the only other Sussex County hit as he struck out one in the eighth. Wyatt Cameron came on and struck out one in a scoreless and hitless ninth. Mahki Backstrom had a two-run home run in the seventh for the Miners (48-54). The ValleyCats finished the 2026 season at 39-61, but the season finale nearly mirrored the ValleyCats win in the season opener which was a 7-1, four-hitter at New Jersey.
