Vijay Sai Reddy's party launch post-Dasara in Andhra Pradesh, to allot 66% seats for youth

Former MP V Vijay Sai Reddy at a press conference in Vijayawada on Monday Vijayawada : Stating that people in Andhra Pradesh were 'fed up' with the TDP and the YSRCP, former MP V Vijay Sai Reddy on Monday announced that his proposed regional party would provide 66% of electoral opportunities to youth aged 25 to 40. Addressing a news conference here, Reddy said the proposed party would be formally launched after Vijayadashami, following press conferences in Anantapur, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati, and a conclave where its name and flag would be announced. He will also set out on a padayatra covering all 660 mandals in AP, he added. Reddy said the party would be confined to Andhra Pradesh and its manifesto would focus on five broad issues — increasing incomes, reducing the cost of living, expanding water storage and power supply, education and employment. He said he would not be the party's chief ministerial candidate, and neither would any member of his family. 'The CM candidate could belong to any caste and would be selected based on ability, experience, patriotism, and the capacity to lead the state,' he added. Reddy said his role after the elections would be that of a mentor, similar to Bal Thackeray's in Maharashtra, offering advice and suggestions to govt. On youth representation, he said 66% of the party's seat share in the assembly, Parliament, and local bodies would be reserved for people aged 25-40, irrespective of caste. Of these, 33% would be allotted to young women, he said. On electricity, Reddy promised free power to every household and farmer, except industries, by promoting solar generation with subsidies from the Centre and the state govt. He said Andhra Pradesh should eventually become a solar-powered state where people can sell electricity to govt. He also proposed reducing taxes on petroleum products to bring petrol prices below ₹100 a litre and lower transportation costs and prices of essential commodities. On irrigation, he said the state's water storage capacity should be increased from 1,000 TMC to 3,000 TMC, as huge amounts of water was flowing into the sea. According to him, additional storage would help AP withstand drought conditions. On education, he demanded that CBI probe the alleged APPSC and DSC scams. He proposed an Andhra Pradesh Teaching Services system for transparent teacher recruitment and promised a 'Graduate Bridge Allowance' for unemployed graduates for a fixed period.
