Dar orders registration as Rs100-per-litre fuel relief

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has directed authorities to keep the registration process for the Prime Minister's Fuel Relief Scheme simple and accessible ahead of its nationwide rollout. Dar issued the instructions while chairing a meeting to review administrative arrangements for the scheme, which is designed to provide discounted petrol to motorcyclists, rickshaw and chingchi owners and drivers of vehicles with engines of up to 800cc. He stressed that the registration process should remain straightforward so that the maximum number of eligible people can benefit from the relief. Elected representatives have been asked to help spread information about the initiative and assist citizens with registration. Volunteers from the Prime Minister's Youth Programme will also be engaged to support awareness and registration efforts. The meeting was informed that the scheme is already operational in Islamabad and will be extended nationwide from 11:59pm on September 16. Under the programme, owners and users of motorcycles, rickshaws and other two- and three-wheeled vehicles will receive a Rs100-per-litre discount on up to 20 litres of petrol each month. Owners of vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc will receive the same Rs100-per-litre relief on up to 30 litres per month. Eligible citizens will need to send REG followed by their CNIC number to 9771 to begin registration. They will also be required to provide their vehicle number, provincial code and registration date. Once registered, beneficiaries can request a fuel token by sending TOK to 9771 and present the token to obtain petrol at the discounted rate. The meeting was attended by federal ministers, senior government officials and members of the National Assembly from Islamabad Capital Territory.
