Anti-encroachment drive intensified across DIK

DERA ISMAIL KHAN - The district administration and Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) have intensified anti-encroachment operations across Dera Ismail Khan to ease traffic congestion, facilitate pedestrians and improve civic amenities. On the instructions of TMO Dera Ismail Khan Muhammad Abdul Rehman, anti-encroachment teams, supervised by Assistant Commissioner Dr Hamid Siddiq, conducted operations at several locations in the city. Encroachment Supervisor Muhammad Arshad and his team cleared temporary encroachments and public passages in Muslim Bazaar, Rahim Bazaar, Commissionary Bazaar, Kalan Bazaar and Topan Wala Bazaar. Several shopkeepers were warned to keep their merchandise within designated limits and refrain from occupying roads and public passages. One shop was also sealed for violating the instructions. Meanwhile, Encroachment In-charge Fahad Khan Sadozai and his team conducted operations along Multan Road, Ara Road and the route from New Bannu Chungi to Thoya Fazal. Temporary structures, goods displayed outside shops and obstructions caused by pushcart vendors were removed to clear roads and pedestrian passages. Vendors and shopkeepers were directed to use designated spaces and refrain from placing goods on roadsides or government land. An operation was also conducted at New Sabzi Mandi, where temporary encroachments on roads and public passages were removed and pushcart vendors shifted to designated locations. Police personnel accompanied the anti-encroachment team. Officials warned that legal action would be taken against those who re-established encroachments. Separately, TMA officials inspected Qureshi Mor Mandi to assess arrangements for livestock traders and visitors. T.O.R Arman Hussain, Sanitary Inspector Niaz and Rent Inspector Farman Hussain, along with other officials, reviewed the availability of livestock feed and other essential facilities. Veterinary services were available at the mandi to provide assistance relating to animal health, while clean drinking water and seating arrangements had also been made for visitors. In another civic initiative, TMO Muhammad Abdul Rehman and Assistant Commissioner Dr Hamid Siddiq, accompanied by Garden Supervisor Hamid Noor, paid a surprise visit to Haq Nawaz Park. The officials inspected various sections of the park, including cleanliness arrangements and play equipment, while all staff were found on duty. The Assistant Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the overall condition of the facility and appreciated the staff for maintaining cleanliness and upkeep. TMO Muhammad Abdul Rehman said the provision of clean, well-maintained and pleasant public spaces was among the administration's priorities, adding that no compromise would be made on the cleanliness and upkeep of parks. The administration said anti-encroachment operations would continue without discrimination to ensure smoother traffic flow, unobstructed pedestrian movement and improved civic amenities in the city.
