Amritsar Soormas kept their semi-final hopes alive in the Mankind Pharma Sher-E-Punjab T20 League Powered by Punjab Kings with a four-wicket victory over Fazilka Falcons at the I.S. Bindra Stadium in Mohali. The contest featured an intriguing battle between two of India's prominent young batting talents, with Abhishek Sharma outshining Fazilka skipper Shubman Gill to help Amritsar complete a successful chase of 192. Fazilka Falcons, batting first, recovered from a difficult start to post 191/6 in their allotted 20 overs. The Falcons were reduced to 20/2 early in the innings before Gill and Pranshu Pratap steadied the ship. Gill once again led from the front, producing an aggressive 67 off just 35 balls. The Fazilka captain and Pranshu added 72 runs for the third wicket to put their side back in control. Pranshu contributed 40 off 33 balls, while Sanvir Singh provided the late impetus with a quick 40 off 21 deliveries, helping Fazilka reach a competitive total. Mayank Markande was among the economical performers for Amritsar, conceding just 26 runs in his four overs despite going wicketless. In reply, Amritsar's chase was given an explosive start by Abhishek Sharma. The left-hander took the Fazilka attack apart, smashing 49 off only 15 balls as he and Sahaj Dhawan put on 79 runs for the opening wicket. While Sharma fell just short of his half-century, his blistering knock provided Amritsar with the perfect platform in their pursuit of 192. Dhawan continued the momentum before the Soormas began losing wickets at regular intervals. Amritsar eventually slipped to 152/5, leaving the chase finely poised. Rahul Kumar then took responsibility alongside Reaven Preet Singh and ensured the required run rate remained under control. Reaven was dismissed for 8 off four balls, leaving Amritsar needing 16 runs for victory. Rahul, however, remained composed and brought up a crucial half-century before finishing unbeaten on 53 off 35 balls. His calm finish ensured there were no further setbacks as Amritsar Soormas crossed the target with four wickets to spare. While Gill produced the bigger individual score with his 67, Abhishek's extraordinary strike rate and explosive powerplay innings proved decisive, giving Amritsar the edge in the battle between the two India stars and keeping their campaign alive.
