Foreign Ministry says Kyiv took request into account By Kanyshai Butun ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukraine said on Tuesday that it received a request from China to refrain from striking Vladivostok during Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang's visit to Russia. Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi told the National News Agency of Ukraine that Kyiv has taken note of the request. 'I can confirm that the Chinese side did officially approach Ukraine's Foreign Ministry, asking it to refrain from strikes on the part of Russia where the high-level Chinese delegation will be staying,' he said. 'The Ukrainian side has taken into account the request.' He added that it is not the first time Ukraine has received such appeals, stressing that it has happened before when high-ranking Chinese officials were on Russian territory. The statement came after Kyodo News, citing informed sources, reported Friday that China asked Ukraine to refrain from attacking Vladivostok in Russia's Far East while Ding was attending the Eastern Economic Forum, which took place from Sept 1 - 4. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Sept. 1 that one of the "other world powers" had asked Ukraine to refrain from strikes in the direction of Vladivostok for a certain period.
