DIKhan Trauma Centre Holds Training Session On Fire Safety, Emergency Preparedness

Dera Ismail Khan, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Sep, 2026) A comprehensive training and practical demonstration session was conducted at the Accident and Emergency Trauma Centre, District Headquarters Teaching Hospital here, to enhance emergency preparedness, strengthen response capabilities and promote fire safety awareness among hospital staff. The session was conducted under the supervision of Civil Defence Team comprising Inspector Alamgir Khan and Instructor Ehsan.. It was attended by the Trauma Centre management, doctors, nurses, paramedics, administrative staff and members of the Fire Safety Team. During the session, the Civil Defence team provided detailed guidance on emergency response procedures, fire prevention measures, evacuation protocols and coordinated action during fire or other emergency situations. Practical demonstrations and exercises were also conducted to familiarise the staff with appropriate safety measures and ensure their effective implementation during emergencies. Speaking on the occasion, Civil Defence Inspector Alamgir Khan said that regular training and practical exercises were essential for developing an effective emergency response mechanism, particularly at healthcare facilities where immediate and coordinated action could help minimise risks and protect the lives of patients, attendants and staff. He stressed the importance of strictly following established fire safety protocols, maintaining emergency preparedness and ensuring that designated personnel remained fully aware of their responsibilities. He said Civil Defence would continue to support and facilitate such awareness and training activities aimed at improving fire safety and emergency response standards in public institutions. Trauma Centre Manager Muhammad Umair Khan appreciated the Civil Defence team for conducting the practical demonstrations and providing staff with hands-on guidance regarding emergency response and fire safety procedures. He said such exercises provided an opportunity for hospital staff to understand safety protocols in a practical manner, improve coordination among different teams and identify areas where further improvement was required during an emergency. He emphasised that fire safety was a shared responsibility and that regular training, demonstrations and preparedness exercises were necessary to ensure a safe environment for patients, attendants and healthcare workers. He reaffirmed the management's commitment to maintaining a safe environment for patients, attendants and healthcare workers and said similar training sessions, demonstrations and emergency preparedness activities would be continued regularly to further strengthen fire safety arrangements and ensure an effective and coordinated response to any emergency.
