PM Tarique urges students to maintain cleanliness to prevent dengue

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today urged students to keep their homes, educational institutions, and surroundings clean and free of stagnant water to help prevent dengue. 'Everyone has to be aware of dengue prevention. We must ensure that no water remains stagnant in or around our homes. Regular cleanliness can significantly help prevent the spread of dengue,' he said. The prime minister made the remarks when a group of students from Kalmakanda Girls High School in Netrakona met him at his office premises at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban this afternoon, said his Deputy Press Secretary Md Suzauddhowla. He also advised the students to engage in regular sports alongside their studies and to be caring towards animals and other living creatures. Urging them to make cleanliness a habit beginning at home, Tarique said, 'Keep yourselves and your surroundings clean, and make your family members, friends and neighbours aware as well. Your small initiatives can help build a clean and healthy society.' During the interaction, the prime minister asked the students about their studies, progress and future aspirations. Highlighting the importance of sports and physical exercise, he said students should not focus only on textbooks but also make time for regular games and exercise. The prime minister also called for compassion towards animals, saying, 'Caring for helpless and voiceless animals around us reflects the values of a humane society.' A total of 42 students from classes VI to X came to the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban today to observe a parliamentary session. They were accompanied by five teachers and two members of the school's governing committee. At one point during their visit, the students got an opportunity to meet the prime minister. They expressed joy and excitement at speaking directly with him and pledged to follow his advice in their own lives and spread the messages among their families, schoolmates and community.
