I've been putting off writing this. Telling myself that if I don't have something useful to say, then I'm just cluttering your inbox. I've been planning a 'useful' post about my time in the query trenches, but don't have time this week to actually write it.
Then I realised: I'm doing it again.
I'm holding myself back. Not celebrating my wins. Keeping myself small. Not 'showing off'. I'm doing the exact thing that I tell other writers not to do! Argh! Why?!
So, here I am, with no other motive than to say…
I DID IT! I SIGNED WITH A NEW LITERARY AGENT!
I've extremely pleased to have found a very experienced agent who adores my novel, is aligned with my vision for my career, and is determined to see the book out in the world:Broo Doherty at DHH Literary in London.
The news was announced on Instagram – thank you to everyone who cheered me on there.
I hope this shows that the persistence and resilience I preach pays off, and encourages you to celebrate your own wins, no matter how big or small. Iwillwrite that useful post, and lots more, very soon.
Until then, keep going.
