Victims identified after experimental plane crashes near Camp Crowder in Neosho

The Newton County coroner has identified the two men killed in Monday's plane crash near Camp Crowder. The pilot was Carl Kemp, 73, of Neosho. The second victim was Larry Scott Howard, 42, of Granby, the coroner confirmed to KZRG. The two men were aboard a Zenith CH701 experimental aircraft when it crashed in southern Neosho near the Fort Crowder shooting range. Authorities were first alerted to a possible crash around 1:40 p.m. Monday but initially did not know where the aircraft had gone down. A Neosho police drone located the wreckage about 40 minutes later. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash along with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. A cause has not been released.
