Several suspects held in two separate operations in Abbottabad

Abbottabad - Nawan Shehr Police have arrested several suspects in two separate operations against alleged criminal activities in the area, police said on Sunday. The operations were conducted on the directives of District Police Officer Abbottabad Haroon Rashid Khan and under the supervision of SP Cantonment Division and DSP Mirpur Circle. The raids were led by SHO Nawan Shehr Cadet Qamar Shehzad. In the first operation, police arrested Abdul Rehman, son of Hafeez, a resident of Bara Hotar and currently living in Township Nawan Shehr. He was arrested on allegations of harassing and blackmailing a minor girl, and legal proceedings have been initiated against him. In another operation targeting gambling, police arrested three men identified as Adeel, son of Muzaffar, of Banda Jalal Khan; Jameel alias Jani, son of Muhammad Zareen, of Garga; and Niaz Ali, son of Ajbar Khan, of Lambi Dheri. Police recovered Rs61,000 in gambling money and a deck of playing cards from the suspects. They were taken into custody and further legal action was initiated. Police said four other suspects Aqil, son of Munsif; Amanat, son of Zareen, both residents of Garga; Babu, son of Anwar, of Dehmatore; and Azhar, son of an unidentified person, of Mera Muzaffar escaped from the scene. Efforts are underway to arrest them. According to police, Jameel alias Jani was also a proclaimed offender in a case registered at Nawan Shehr Police Station under FIR No. 26/403, under EHO 3/4.
