Warriors rumors: Dubs insider delivers Jimmy Butler injury update with training camp approaching appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here. The Golden State Warriors are expected to remain without Jimmy Butler III when training camp begins, but the star forward continues to make progress in his recovery from a torn right ACL. ClutchPoints NBA insider Brett Siegel reported in late August that Butler would miss the first few months of the 2026-27 season after suffering the injury against the Miami Heat in January. However, Siegel reported that Butler had experienced no setbacks or limitations in his rehabilitation, with some indications that he could be progressing ahead of schedule. "Even so, sources have told ClutchPoints that Butler has not had any setbacks or limitations to this point in his recovery process," Siegel wrote. "There have been minor hints that he is ahead of schedule and could return to the court sooner than many would've initially expected, but again, Golden State has not officially put a firm date on a range of when he could return."Siegel reported that Christmas Day against the Denver Nuggets had surfaced in conversations as a possible best-case scenario, although he stressed that the date represented more of a "hey, you never know" target than an established timetable. "The best estimate one could give at this time for Butler's return would realistically be sometime in January or February 2027," Siegel wrote. "Whether or not he returns sooner will be fully dependent on his progress and the Warriors' medical staff consistently evaluating him early in the season." Jimmy Butler III makes notable progress as training camp approaches ESPN's Anthony Slater provided further details Tuesday, reporting that Butler has gradually increased his on-court workload throughout the summer and received encouraging results from recent strength testing. "Butler has been slowly increasing his on-court work while traveling the globe this summer, and the most recent strength tests on his right ACL recovery have shown notable progress, according to league sources," Slater wrote. Butler is expected to participate only in individual court and strength work when Golden State opens training camp in approximately a month, according to Slater. He still has extensive rehabilitation ahead before receiving clearance for full-contact work. Slater also described a January or February return as an optimistic target and noted that Warriors lead medical decision-maker Rick Celebrini is known for taking a cautious approach. Slater's latest reporting provides additional context to Siegel's earlier update while reinforcing the uncertainty surrounding Butler's exact return date. Despite the encouraging progress, Golden State has avoided establishing a firm timetable. Warriors' ceiling hinges on Butler's eventual return His eventual return could play a significant role in determining the Warriors' ceiling. "Jimmy Butler returning to the court and actually playing at the All-Star level he was before his ACL injury may very well make or break Golden State's season," Siegel wrote. The Warriors went 46-22 in regular-season games with Butler in the lineup before his injury, illustrating the impact he has made since joining Golden State. His absence also adds another question to a team dealing with health concerns surrounding its veteran core. Moses Moody's timetable remains uncertain following a torn left patellar tendon, while Stephen Curry dealt with knee issues that limited Golden State's ability to compete late last season. Siegel noted that a Butler return before the trade deadline would give Golden State an opportunity to evaluate its roster with the star forward back on the floor before deciding how to approach potential midseason moves. If the Warriors exceed expectations without Butler, there would also be little incentive to rush his recovery. For now, Golden State appears prepared to exercise patience as Butler works toward the next stage of his rehabilitation. The positive developments provide reason for optimism, but his expected limitations when training camp begins show that significant checkpoints remain before Butler can return to game action.
