Hyderabad:A pregnant woman reportedly delivered a baby inside an ambulance while being shifted from the Vanasthalipuram Government General Hospital to the Maternity Hospital in Sultan Bazaar, on Mnday. According to officals, the woman was anaemic and required a blood transfusion. The staff decided to shift her to the Maternity Hospital for further management as they believed there was still sufficient time for delivery. However, she went into labour while being transported in the ambulance and delivered the baby in the ambulance. Dr B. Nagender, superintendent of the Vanasthalipuram Government General Hospital, told Deccan Chronicle: 'The woman had anaemia and we felt there was enough time for delivery. She needed blood, so the staff ws shifting her to the Maternity Hospital in Sultan Bazaar.' He said the mother and baby were in good health. 'The staff did not expect that she would go into labour at that time,' he said. The woman's family alleged that the Vanasthalipuram hospital had denied her treatment, leading to her being shifted to another hospital.
