Article content The free-admission event is being held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Clair College Chatham campus, 1001 Grand Ave. W. Try refreshing your browser, or Play Video Article content The activities include an opportunity to explore police cruisers, ATVs, fire trucks, an ambulance, a boat, an armoured tank and the Chatham-Kent Police Service Mobile Command Centre, said a Crime Stoppers media release. Organizers have planned a Jaws of Life vehicle rescue demonstration and fire extinguisher demonstration. The rollover crash simulator also will be there. Three safety events also are happening including a car seat clinic where qualified staff from Moraviantown Police will check the installation and ensure safety standards, and answer questions. Space is limited to 12 time slots for the car seat clinic, so those interested need to reserve a time slot www.ckcrimestoppers.ca/childrens-safety-expo. The expo also will feature a bike helmet clinic where three Chatham-Kent special constables will show those attending how to property adjust and wear a bike helmet for maximum protection. Article content A finger print clinic will be onsite to create important child identification records with a digital record provided to parents and caregivers to keep safe. Crime Stoppers notes it does not store any records or personal information. Organizers say there also will be a chance to meet live Paw Patrol characters, take part in games and activities and food vendors will be onsite. Local volunteers nominated for 2026 CK Senior Achievement Award Fourteen local volunteers have been nominated for the 2026 Chatham-Kent senior achievement award. Wallaceburg's Lord Selkirk Bridge closed until Sept. 25 The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is advising residents the Lord Selkirk Bridge in Wallaceburg will remain closed to vehicular traffic for public safety until Sept. 25. The bridge remains open to pedestrians, said a municipal media release. Currently, both the Lord Selkirk Bridge and the Dundas Bridge are not operational for marine traffic requiring the bridges to open. Article content 'Municipal staff are working to develop and implement the repair to address the mechanical issue and safety reopen the bridge to vehicular traffic,' the release said. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Motorists are asked to follow the posted detour route using Base Line Road, Old Glass Road, Mason Street and Arnold Street and to allow additional travel time when moving through the area, municipal officials said. 'The Municipality of Chatham-Kent appreciates the patience and understanding of residents, businesses and motorists as work continues toward reopening the bridge as soon as possible.'
