The Transportation Security Administration is launching a program to allow some travelers to pass through airport security, even when they aren't flying. The Sept. 11, 2001, attacks changed the way Americans travel through airports, disallowing anyone without an airline ticket to pass through airport security. Now, the agency is launching Gateside by TSA PreCheck, which will allow members to go through airport security to visit airport gates, shops and restaurants without a plane ticket. It's intended to allow trusted travelers to go to the gate for welcomes and send-offs, meet friends during a layover and visit restaurants and stores.
