IGP opens police facilitation center in Upper Dir

Haqnawaz shinwari UPPER DIR Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed on Monday visited Upper Dir, where he inaugurated a newly constructed Police Facilitation Centre in Wari and attended a jirga on law and order with police officials, district administration and local elders. District Police Officer Upper Dir Aslam Nawaz and Deputy Commissioner Manzoor Ahmad Afridi received the IGP upon his arrival. A smartly turned-out police contingent presented him with a guard of honour, said a statement. The statement said the IGP also visited the martyrs' memorial and laid a floral wreath to pay tribute to police and security personnel who sacrificed their lives in the fight against terrorism. During his visit, Hameed formally inaugurated the Police Facilitation Centre Wari and planted a sapling as part of the plantation campaign. Speaking on the occasion, the provincial police chief said the centre would provide citizens with various police services under a modern digital system at one place, including driving licences, police clearance certificates, character certificates and registration of complaints. Later, a meeting on the security situation was held at the Jirga Hall Wari under the chairmanship of the IGP. The participants reviewed the overall security situation in the district, issues faced by the local community, suggestions from elders and measures to further strengthen public cooperation with the police and security institutions. Zulfiqar Hameed said sustainable peace in Upper Dir was the result of cooperation among the people, police and security institutions. He said police capacity would be further enhanced through the provision of modern weapons, new vehicles, armoured vehicles, drone cameras, night-vision equipment and other advanced technology. He said police stations and posts would also be modernised to provide personnel with better and safer working conditions. Paying tribute to the martyrs of the police and security forces, the IGP said their sacrifices were a source of inspiration and that all possible support would be extended to their families. On the occasion, local elders presented their suggestions regarding law and order and expressed their resolve to continue extending full cooperation to the police and security institutions for maintaining peace in the region.
