BarcelonaThe electric vehicle charger manufacturer Wallbox has decided to stop production at its Arlington plant in the United States and centralize manufacturing in Barcelona, as reported by the specialized media outlet Ecotechers and confirmed by company sources to the ACN. The decision will involve an increase in work and staff at the Barcelona plant, which will be determined based on volume and production needs. Wallbox will keep the Texas facilities operational as a "hub of service and logistics" in North America. The company, based in Barcelona, asserts that the decision is part of a process to simplify its operating model and aims to improve its efficiency. Furthermore, company sources explain to the ACN that although the decision will mean that tariffs will have to be paid to sell its products in the USA, overall the cost reduction will compensate for these taxes. The Arlington plant (in the state of Texas, in the south of the country) mainly manufactured chargers for the US domestic market, which will now be exported from Barcelona. Wallbox inaugurated its North American plant in 2022, with an investment of about 70 million euros. The facilities will not be closed, although production there will be stopped. Red numbers Up to the second quarter, the Catalan company obtained a net result of 28.6 million euros in the negative, a figure that represents a 77.6% increase in the losses of 16.1 million recorded during the same period last year. The company explained that the data had been affected "significantly by the one-off and non-recurring impact on financial expenses arising from the refinancing process". During the first six months of the year, its revenue fell by 37.6% compared to the second quarter of last year, to 23.9 million euros. Furthermore, the adjusted gross operating profit (EBITDA) was negative 7.8 million euros, similar to the negative 7.5 million euros in the second quarter of 2025. The Catalan company has been listed on the New York Stock Exchange since 2021.
