Hyderabad:A portion of the road at Old City's Jaffery Galli in Alijah Kotla has caved in on Friday. Despite complaints from locals, the GHMC has reportedly not taken up the repair work. According to residents, the road gave way around midnight on Friday after a tractor passed through the lane. The damaged portion has since remained unattended, with only warning tape placed around the spot.
Raza, a local resident, said the authorities were informed about the incident but no repair work had been taken up so far. 'They only put up warning tape around the damaged portion and left. No repair work has been done yet,' he said.
Residents said Charminar MLA Mir Zulfeqar Ali and GHMC officials had inspected the site after the cave-in. Residents said they assumed that since authorities conducted inspections, the road would be repaired soon, but work has still not started.
The caved-in portion is particularly dangerous, with a little portion of the caved-in road being under a house. Residents fear that the damaged section could widen or become further caved in, causing not only structural damage to the building but also to the other portion of the road.
