Shalu Minocha had reportedly been unhappy with her father-in-law, 63-year-old pharmaceutical businessman Vineet Minocha, for some time. According to police, Shalu alleged that Vineet controlled the family's finances and that she had to ask him for money even for small expenses. The situation reportedly worsened around two weeks before the murder when Vineet installed four CCTV cameras in the drawing room of their home in Kalyanpur. He told the family that the cameras were meant for their safety. Police said Shalu was distressed by the cameras and felt that her privacy had been compromised. On Saturday night, Vineet was allegedly murdered inside the house. The crime came to light around 4 am the following day when Shalu, her husband Subrat and their child returned home and found the main door open. Vineet was found lying in a pool of blood on the bedroom floor. He had suffered multiple stab wounds, according to report. Subrat subsequently informed the police, following which officers reached the house and began investigating. Police found no apparent signs of forced entry. Investigators then examined CCTV footage from inside the house and the surrounding area to trace the movements of those involved. The footage allegedly led police to Vishal Gautam, 30, and Raj Kishore, 25. The two men were arrested following an encounter on Monday. During questioning, police said the investigation took an unexpected turn when the accused allegedly told them that they had been hired to kill Vineet by Shalu. Shalu was arrested the same day. The three accused were produced before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody, Deputy Commissioner of Police SM Qasim Abidi said. Police allege that Shalu had approached Vishal, a former employee at her father-in-law's shop, and offered him Rs 6 lakh to carry out the murder. Vishal, who was allegedly facing a debt of Rs 2 lakh, agreed, police said. He then allegedly brought in his unemployed friend Raj Kishore, promising him an advance payment of Rs 30,000. According to police, the original plan was to suffocate Vineet with a pillow while he slept and make the death appear to be a heart attack. Around 20 days before the killing, Shalu allegedly handed Vishal the original key to the house so that he could get a duplicate made. Police further alleged that Shalu told the two men she would be attending a party with her husband and son on the night of September 5. To allegedly ensure that Vishal could enter the housing society without raising suspicion, Shalu reportedly called the security gate and gave his name as 'Shivam', so that his actual identity would not be recorded in the visitor register. Using the duplicate key, Vishal and Raj Kishore allegedly entered the house and hid inside the bedroom. Around 11 pm, Vineet entered the bedroom. Police said the accused panicked after he sensed movement and allegedly attacked him with knives they had brought with them. Vineet was stabbed repeatedly in the abdomen and other parts of his body, police alleged. The two men then fled the house by jumping over the rear wall. Police encounter On Monday, police received information that Vishal and Raj Kishore were hiding in Ratanpur and cordoned off the area. Police claimed that when the two men spotted the officers, they opened fire with the weapons they were carrying. The police retaliated, leaving both accused with bullet injuries to their legs. They were taken to a hospital, where they received initial treatment, The Indian Express reported. The investigation into the alleged murder conspiracy is underway.
