Speaking on a panel at the Housing Community Summit in Liverpool, Amy Rees, appearing via a video link, fielded questions regarding bidders who missed out on strategic partnership funding under the Social and Affordable Homes Programme (SAHP).
Kate Henderson, chief executive of the National Housing Federation (NHF), said the initial £9.58bn allocation was welcome but 'very disappointing for those who were not successful in this round'.
She said the NHF 'would suggest opening up another round of strategic partners as soon as possible'.
In response, Ms Rees said: 'I genuinely don't know at this point whether we'd be able to do another round of strategic partner bids.'
But she said Homes England will be lobbying alongside the sector to 'get as much as we possibly can'.
