NV Yakouke hosts cluster-level ‘Art in Education', Kala Utsav

(Photo Courtsy: JNV Yakouke) Kohima, September 8 (MExN): Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Yakouke, Kohima, hosted the Cluster-Level Competition under 'Art in Education' and 'Kala Utsav' for 24 JNVs from the Shillong Cluster on September 8. The two-day event, being organised by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Regional Office, Shillong, is being held on September 8 and 9, with participating schools from Manipur, Meghalaya and Nagaland. The event was inaugurated by Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, MLA, 10th Northern Angami-I Assembly Constituency and Advisor, School Education, Nagaland, who lit the ceremonial lamp. In his address, Yhome encouraged the participants and appreciated initiatives that provide students opportunities to develop their artistic abilities and showcase the region's cultural heritage and creativity. The inaugural programme was attended by Sarthak Singh, IAS, Assistant Commissioner, Kohima, as Special Guest; Emilo Patton, District Education Officer, Kohima, as Guest of Honour; Ruokuoneinuo, Assistant District Coordinator, District Mission Authority, Samagra Shiksha, Kohima; and Umesh Chandra, Principal, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kohima. A total of 163 students from Meghalaya, Manipur and Nagaland are participating in various artistic and cultural disciplines, including vocal music, instrumental music, group orchestra/ensemble, visual arts, indigenous toys and games, local crafts and traditional storytelling. The programme aims to provide students a platform to showcase their artistic abilities and engage with peers from different cultural backgrounds while celebrating the region's diverse cultural traditions.
