Prime Minister's Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah on Monday claimed that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will form a government in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly (LA) with a two-thirds majority after elections on reserved seats for women. Speaking at a joint press conference in Islamabad with Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Engineer Amir Muqam and others, Rana Sanaullah said the PML-N would form the government in Azad Kashmir on the strength of its majority. According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, Rana Sanaullah said the PML-N had secured a clear lead with 25 seats in the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly and would achieve a two-thirds majority after elections for the reserved seats for women. Rana Sanaullah said the new government would take steps to address underdevelopment in Azad Kashmir. He also welcomed Sajid Iqbal, who was elected from LA-14, to the PML-N. According to sources, Sajid Iqbal Abbasi, chairman of the Awami Dast-o-Bazu Party and newly elected assembly member, has decided to join the PML-N. PML-N President Nawaz Sharif has also approved giving Sajid Iqbal Abbasi a ministerial position, the sources said. Sajid Iqbal Abbasi was elected from LA-14 West Bagh after defeating former prime minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan by a large margin.
