Injured boater rescued from Arkansas River sandbar

PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. – A coordinated multi-agency rescue saved an injured boater Monday after he was hurt by a boat propeller on a remote sandbar along the Arkansas River. Officials say the man was located roughly six miles south of Terry Lock and Dam, stranded on a sandbar with injuries that required immediate medical attention. Responders from the Pulaski County Office of Emergency Management reached the area by boat, with support from the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office Water Patrol, who helped navigate to the stranded boater's location. LifeNet also joined the response, dispatching an air crew that landed directly on the sandbar to provide treatment. After stabilizing the patient, medics transported him to a local hospital.
