BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - As Congress prepares to return to session, North Dakota Representative Julie Fedorchak says passing the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, known as the SAVE Act, remains a top priority. It would require voters to show a photo ID that proves their citizenship. Fedorchak says the bill mirrors what North Dakota already does to keep elections secure. 'Most Americans agree that we want only Americans voting in American elections,' said Fedorchak. 'And the Save America Act is the best way to do that. So that's a really important issue.' In addition to election security, Fedorchak noted that completing federal budget bills ahead of the late September deadline remains a critical focus to avoid a government shutdown. Congress is set to reconvene in mid-September.
