Jayson Tatum Has One Word For Celtics Before 10th NBA Season

Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics are in the offseason as they prepare for a new-look roster for the 2026-27 NBA regular season. Boston General Manager Brad Stevens controversially traded guard Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers in early July, acquiring forward Paul George and draft picks for the 2024 NBA Finals MVP. Tatum had spent his previous nine NBA seasons with Brown by his side. With Brown's production gone, other Celtics will have to step up for next season, such as guard Payton Pritchard, who averaged 17.0 points per game last season and has improved every year. Guard Derrick White returns adorned with All-Defensive First Team honors in 2026 and will be relied on heavily. With Boston's fan base entering the regular season shell-shocked from the Brown trade to the division-rival 76ers, the team recently decided to focus on players who remain on the team. On Monday, the Celtics organization went to social media to let fans in on what players did this summer. In an Instagram post, Boston posted a graphic that read, 'We asked our players what they did this summer.' The first reply was from team superstar Jayson Tatum. In a one-word reply, Tatum answered, 'Golfing ,' with Boston replying, 'Should've known .' In a Boston offseason marred by trade controversy, the team lightened the mood by discussing the leisurely activities of players. Although a majority of players responded with golf, some players put more effort into their responses. Center Neemias Queta provided a collage of his travels, while forward Sam Hauser showed off his new lawnmower. Boston will open the 2026 NBA preseason on the road at Rocket Arena to face the Cleveland Cavaliers on Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. ET.
