In Kyiv, a man was sentenced to 1.5 years of restriction of liberty for stalking and threatening his ex-wife

Follow the latest news on SUD.UA social networks In Kyiv, the court imposed a real sentence on a 37-year-old man who systematically committed domestic violence against his ex-wife. The Kyiv couple divorced in 2024 and lived separately, but the man continued to come to the apartment owned by his ex-wife, using obscene language towards her, humiliating and intimidating her, threatening physical violence. According to the prosecutor's office, he tried to force the woman to resume the relationship in this way. Even during the court hearing, the man behaved aggressively and stated that he would return his ex-wife anyway. It is noted that the man is registered with a psychiatrist, but the forensic psychiatric examination recognized him as fully sane. The man was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months of restriction of liberty for domestic violence (Article 126-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The prosecutor's office also noted that he had previously been repeatedly held administratively liable for domestic violence. However, the imposed administrative sanctions did not change his behavior. In addition, the court applied a restrictive measure to the man provided for by Article 91-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely: a ban on correspondence and any communication with his ex-wife.
